Théodore Dubois (1837-1924) was during his lifetime a celebrated musician: through his numerous and important functions in the Parisian musical world he was at the centre of the complicated French establishment at the beginning of the 20th century. But after his death his works were almost totally forgotten and his theoretical ideas were considered to be out of tune with modern musical development.
This biography re-situates him in his life and times, through a study of his career and an analysis of the well-known « cas Ravel ».
