- Johan Zoutendijk, The South Netherlandish Organ in the 17th Century
Organ builder and musicologist Johan Zoutendijk opens the December issue with a contribution on the South Netherlandish organ in the 17th century: instruments from the time of Peeter Corneet and Abraham van den Kerckhoven. Despite the fact that numerous articles and monographs on specific instruments or topics from that period have appeared, an overall survey with a general characterization of the 17th-century organ in Brabant and Flanders is lacking. This contribution aims to fill that gap. - Richard Vendome, The Oxford Christ Church Music Manuscript 89
Richard Vendome from Oxford sheds light on the Oxford Christ Church Music manuscript 89: the most extensive source of keyboard music from the Spanish Netherlands. This collection comprises no fewer than 348 pages and is the only source from that period with a liturgical design. Numerous musical examples accompany the article.
- Gilbert Huybens, Homage to Jan Gerits
Gilbert Huybens pays homage to the tireless Jan Gerits, who contributed many new and interesting building blocks to the history of the organ. In addition to the account of a pleasant conversation at his home “Amphion” in Gruitrode, his extensive bibliography on various aspects of the art of organ building in the Southern Netherlands is listed.
- Bart Wuilmus, The Restored Clerinx Organ in the Church Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Ten Hemelopneming in Veulen (Heers)
- 19th Orgelkunst CD: Clerinx Organs
Bart Wuilmus reports on his findings regarding the restored Clerinx organ in Veulen, as an introduction to the release of the 19th Orgelkunst CD, which is entirely devoted to the recently restored Clerinx organs in Eigenbilzen, Groot-Gelmen and Veulen.
Organists Bart Verheyen, Jeroen Follon and Ben Van Nespen perform a varied programme from the 18th and 19th centuries, bringing these Limburg instruments to life. A detailed programme booklet and a presentation of the organists are included.
