Details

  • The June issue focuses on various aspects of the organ. For instance, Jaak Peersman describes the Hans Goltfuss organ of the former Premonstratensian Abbey in Ninove and its organists (1621–1730). This captivating account presents the history of this lost instrument and of the organists who were attached to the abbey church at that time.
  • On the occasion of his 75th birthday, Luk Bastiaens had a conversation with organist-musicologist Jean Ferrard about the many activities he has undertaken and the projects still in the pipeline. Along the way, we navigate through the Brussels organ world from the late 1960s to the present day.
Jean Ferrard’s organ library is impressive. Throughout his life he has collected organ books, scores, and recordings. In a short contribution, the author outlines several aspects of this remarkable collection.
  • Bart Wuilmus also discusses the new Jos Moors organ that was brought into use at the end of last year in Kortessem. The concept of this two-manual organ with independent pedal is based on the organ-building style of the transitional period between the 18th and 19th centuries in the Meuse–Rhine border region.
  • Peter Strauven highlights the new acquisition of Antwerp’s St James’ Church: an English chamber organ built by Johann Schnetzler (1710–1785), a Swiss craftsman who spent his entire life working in England and is considered one of the most important English organ builders of the 18th century.
